Weekend Staycation at Montigo Resorts, Nongsa

A couple of weeks before my final examinations, I had a really short one-night stay at Montigo Resorts, Nongsa, which is just a 40-minutes boat ride away from Singapore. I would think of it as a mini-Santorini, with all blocks of white-washed apartments decked together and lined by the sea. I had been so busy with school, but I am also dying for a getaway, so I thought of having a quick one. Thankfully, it felt really long despite a short span of 2 days.

It might be amusing if I tell you I haven't gone to Batam before, even if you're not talking about Montigo Resorts, Nongsa. But yes, I really have not, and that for a Singaporean is something that is uncommon. There are a few things that Batam is known for — seafood, kuehlapis (layers cake) and the perfect place for massage. On this trip, I got to experience all of it and Montigo Resorts, Nongsa.

Had dinner at Pantai Restaurant, which serves seasonal seafood. Pantai's food is got to be my favorite because the flavours are simply on point. I had nothing to complain about, except the waiting time. It is a popular place to dine at night so better to go before sundown to avoid waiting.

That's the view outside our villa. The weather is hot when I went in March. Do dress lightly when you go! My favorites for these occasions are summer shirt and Panama hats. My red floral shit is from Topman and you can find it here.

The weather was really hot, I would estimate it to be around 35 degrees or so. Which is why a dip in the pool would be perfect, no matter what time of the day it is. Aircon is available in all rooms as well as the living room, but please off it when you are not using it! Save energy! I had a 3-storey pool villa and the rooms are on the second level, pool on the first. The 3rd was an open-air rooftop where they are couches to chill on. You definitely do not want to be there when it rains, and it did rain on the second day of my trip.

When you make a direct booking, you get the option for late checkout, like I did! I checked out at 5pm, as my ferry was at 6pm. Therefore, I had the leisure to play in the pool which I really spent a very long time in. I went to the GYM on the second day because I felt guilty eating too much, but it was empty. I guess nobody ever uses a gym on such holidays (besides me). If you are thinking of going to Montigo Resorts, Nongsa, I think 2D1N would make a perfect trip over the weekend. Also, the traditional massage was my favorite thing from the trip. Don't forget to try it while you are there. Hope you enjoyed reading. Till then. x
