Olympics Winter Games Pyeongchang 2018 D-200 Countdown! #K-Supporter

Just came back from my South Korea youth exchange trip and the Pyeongchang Olympics 2018 festivities continues here in Singapore! Last week I made a visit to the Korean Plaza in Singapore (Yes, it exists if you don't know there is one) to  experience some activities to celebrate D-200 to the Olympics Winter Games in Pyeongchang, that will be held during 9 February 2018 to 25 February 2018. I would want to share more about the Olympics with you in the post.

The Winter Olympics is held once every 4 years, just like the normal olympics. The year it will be held in South Korea. It will be held in 3 places - Gangneung, Pyeongchang and Jeongseon. They are located at Gangwon-do which is the Eastern part of South Korea.

At the celebratory event, I experience the fishing, curling and also hockey. I went without knowing how was curling even played. On hindsight, I think its just like air hockey. There was also a virtual reality machine that brings you to Pyeongchang to attend the olympics. What is Korea without its modern technology?

There will be over 100 countries attending the Olympics Games, and there are a total of 15 Disciplines, and 102 Gold Medals to be contended for. The 15 winter sports are divided into snow, ice and sliding sports. Of which many are highly dangerous and exhilarating to watch. 6 new events such as Snowboard Big Air (men, women), Speed Skating Mass Start (men, women), Curling Mixed Doubles, Alpine Skiing Team Event will be added to the programme. PyeongChang 2018 will also be the stage for the greatest number of women’s and mixed events in the history of Olympic Winter Games.

Korea Train eXpress (KTX) is South Korea’s high-speed rail system, operated by Korail. KTX operates from Incheon International Airport with stops at the popular Seoul Station, towards Busan and Gwangju. You may reach Gangwon by KTX train from Incheon International Airport or Seoul Station, which I think is highly recommended since its convenient for many tourists. It takes only 86 minutes from the airport to Olympic site!
